OUR STORY
Affordable Lifts began with a deeply personal challenge.
Jeanne wanted to stay in the home she loved. But as cancer treatments weakened her body, even simple tasks like leaving the house for church or medical appointments became difficult and increasingly unsafe.
Her family started looking for a solution.
What they discovered was shocking. Most accessibility equipment cost tens of thousands of dollars. Even something as simple as a wheelchair ramp would have cost several thousand dollars and required more space than her home allowed.
Jeanne didn’t need something complicated. She needed something simple, safe, and affordable.
But after weeks of searching, the answer became clear: that solution didn’t exist.
So two brothers decided to build it themselves.
Working out of a backyard workshop in Lynchburg, Virginia, they designed the first lift with a simple goal: create something reliable and practical that families could actually afford. The design focused on durability, safety, and straightforward functionality rather than unnecessary complexity.
What started as a small project for one family quickly grew into something much bigger.
Neighbors began asking about the lift. Then people from nearby communities. Soon, inquiries began to come in from across the country. Families everywhere faced the same problem Jeanne had: accessibility solutions existed, but they were often priced out of reach.
As word spread, demand grew rapidly.
The backyard workshop soon gave way to a small manufacturing operation, and before long, Affordable Lifts became a full-time company dedicated to one mission: helping people stay in the homes they love.
Each lift represents a family solving a problem that once seemed impossible: a parent returning safely to their porch, a veteran regaining independence, a grandparent staying connected to the life they built.
In 2026, Affordable Lifts is entering a new chapter of growth with the expansion into a 24,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Lynchburg, Virginia. This expansion allows the company to increase production, improve manufacturing efficiency, and continue meeting the growing demand from families across the country.
But even as the company grows, the mission remains the same as it was on day one.
Affordable Lifts was never just about building equipment. It was about building a solution for someone who needed it.
What began as two brothers solving a problem for one woman has now created a ripple effect that has helped thousands of families regain safety, independence, and peace of mind in their homes. And that legacy continues to grow with every lift we build.
